The philosopher Rumi sums things up so beautifully: “Where there is ruin there is hope for treasure.”
My heart and prayers go out to everyone and our planet during this difficult time. I hope this article can help you uncover some treasure in your own life through astrology.
I have had several people reach out to me asking about the astrology around the COVID-19 pandemic.
While I do have strong astrological opinions surrounding this event, I am very hesitant to make any kind of declaration or prediction because I am honestly not sure how helpful this will really be for people that are already ill or have a loved one or friend who might be sick.
We are each facing our own unique challenges and fears regarding COVID -19 and current global events.
Whether the fears are about health, the health of a loved one or parent, financial worries, managing work with children out of school and so much more. Especially since we are visibly in the larger stream of a global, collective karma-demic (technically not a word, but it fits!).
What I do want to share with you is information you can use right now to connect with the cosmic stream and discover the treasure within your own birth chart and offer you some help to deal with current circumstances.
As I see it, there are key houses of the horoscope and planets involved in this scenario for most.
As of right now let's to focus on the fourth house of your horoscope because it is related to the chest and lungs, where this virus attacks.
The fourth house of the horoscope is also representative of our home, where many of us are going to be for the foreseeable future. I will go into more detail for each zodiac in my April horoscopes, which will be posted on April 1.
So, what can we do now?
While we are all spending a lot of time at home, we can take opportunity to literally get our fourth house of our birth chart in order.
Since the fourth house of the horoscope represents our home, chest and lungs, our emotional well-being, this is an extremely important zone of the birth chart to consider at this time.
Our physical environment often reflects our emotional state as well as our health and well-being. If you are familiar with the east Indian science of Vastu (think Feng Shui, but different) The Moon is the natural fourth house indicator and rules the NW direction.
By keeping our NW sector of our homes clean, clear from clutter and harmonious with the flowing watery energy of the Moon, our emotional well-being WILL be supported!
Here are some other things you can do:
▪ Use images that evoke a sense of a calm, clear state of mind. Even if it is just printing off an image from the internet and placing it in the NW sector of your home, please do it!
▪ The metal for the Moon is silver - place something silver in the NW.
▪ The color for the NW is white, so be sure to have something white in this location.
▪ Place a succulent green plant in the NW.
▪ Krishna is the deity for the Moon. If you resonate with Krishna, do place an image of Krishna in the NW. And you could chant any Krishna mantra when you feel anxiety coming on.
To be completely clear, I am in no way implying that clearing your home of clutter in a specific direction is some kind of miracle cure or protection against getting COVID-19.
That said, I do want to emphasize that our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being is intrinsically connected to our surrounding environment and the planet at large.
And since most of us are likely to be at home for the foreseeable future, why not harmonize your space to support you and your families emotional and spiritual selves during this difficult time?
How to Support Your Fourth House: Important Elements for Each Rising Sign
So, let’s get going!
Pull out your smart phone with your compass app and check the northwest area of your home. Is the space free from clutter? Is it clean and dusted?
If not, be sure to get on it! Regardless of your rising sign, keeping the Moon area clean and free from clutter is very supportive emotionally.
If you know your Vedic rising sign, you can dial in and harmonize your fourth house energy even more. If not, you can go to my website and calculate your Vedic chart for free here.. My western astrology friends be sure to calculate your sidereal Vedic rising sign since it usually different than your tropical Western rising sign.
Since emotional Moon is the fourth house ruler of Cancer, you will want to pay extra close attention to the northwest corner of your home/apartment and property. Place a calming image in this area of your home. Maybe something that has flowing water in the picture and silver frame. And be sure to place a live plant, even a small Echevaria would be terrific.
The brilliant Sun as ruler of your fourth house also connects to the eastern direction. Check your living space and surrounding property in the in the easterly direction. Is it cluttered? If so, clear that clutter! Then use vibrant reds and gold in this area to strengthen the solar energy in this section of your home. Place an image of a beautiful sunrise in the East or a vivid flower just beginning to open to a full blossom.
Communicative Mercury is ruler of Virgo and your fourth house. Mercury is associated with the North. Since Mercury also rules your chart, the northerly spaces in your home and property is extra important! Use rich emerald greens and images of the earth. This will be extremely calming and grounding for you Gemini! This is also a good space to grow herbs and medicinal plants if you have enough light.
Beauty loving Venus rules Libra and is responsible for your fourth house. So, check your living space and surrounding property in the in the southeast direction. Be sure the area is calm and balanced. Use beautiful imagery to support the Venus energy in this direction. Place a candle in this area to honor the element of fire associated with the SE.
Mighty Mars governs Scorpio and your fourth house, and its ruler Mars is connected to the southerly direction. Scorpio is primarily water with some underlying fire and Mars is definitely a fiery planet! Be sure to place something that has bright red in the area, even if it is something small or even a red flower in a vase. This would actually fulfill both the fire and water elements associate with Mars and Scorpio.
Expansive Jupiter rules your fourth house of Sagittarius. Jupiter is connected to the very auspicious northeast direction and is considered the gateway to the Gods. Sunflower yellow is well placed in this direction and will support the expansive energy of Jupiter and your fourth house. The northeast is also a wonderful direction to locate a meditation and/or altar space in your home. Possibly place a floating candle or an image with water or a small waterfall in this area.
Organized Saturn rules your fourth house of Capricorn. Be sure to check the westerly areas! And be extra aware of how well organized and make sure there is something black or dark blue placed in this area of your home. Use the elements of air and earth - possibly a landscape image or some rocks that you have collected along your travels to bring in the solid earth element of Capricorn.
Rahu as co-ruler of your fourth house so check southwest direction in your home. Clear that clutter out, but keep in mind the SW can handle heavier items like large bookcases, and on your property outside the home in the SW corner is a great place for stone walls. If you do not want to move or cannot move your furniture around then place imagery in your space to convey the weight, such as an image of Stonehenge, for example! Use your imagination.
Your chart ruler Jupiter also rules your fourth house. So doubly important that the northeast spaces in your home or property are free from clutter and are clean. This is an excellent space for an altar and be sure to place something sunflower yellow in this direction. You can also place an image of water or a small waterfall in this direction.
Fiery Mars governs Aries and your fourth house. Mars is connected to the southerly direction. Check this area and see what you can add that supports the fire element associated with Mars and Aries. Be sure to place something that has bright red in the area, even if it is something small or even a red flower in a vase. This would fulfill both the fire and water elements associate with the southern direction.
Socialite Venus rules Taurus and is responsible for your fourth house. So, check your living space and surrounding property in the in the southeast direction. Be sure the area is calm and balanced. Use beautiful imagery to support the Venus energy in this direction. Place a candle in this area to honor the element of fire that is also associated with the SE.
Communicative Mercury is ruler of Gemini and your fourth house. Mercury is associated with the North. Mercury also rules your relationship sector so the northerly spaces in your home and property is extra important! Especially while spending time at home now with a partner if you happen to be living together. Use rich emerald greens and images of the earth. This will be extremely calming and grounding for you Gemini! This is also a good space to grow herbs and medicinal plants if you have enough light.
