Mark your calendars - an incredibly auspicious and golden day is coming May 7.
Akshaya tritiya on May 7, 2019, is one of the most special days out of the entire year considered to be incredibly fortunate. I have noted the specific date and hours at the end of this article.
The Sanskrit word Akshaya can be translated as inexhaustible, eternal or never diminishing. Tritiya means third. In this case it Shukla Tritiya; the third day of the waxing (shukla/bright) moon that occurs when the Sun and the Moon are both in their exaltation signs, or strongest constellations.
New ventures, business or personal partnerships which are begun on this auspicious day are said to last for an eternity, and to be blessed with good fortune and success. Starting a business or making an important purchase are good actions on this day. New beginnings of any kind are most auspicious during this time.
In India buying gold on this day is traditional.

It is also an excellent day to share our abundance with others. Donating food, necessities or money to your favorite charity or someone in need is an important part of an offering to Lakshmi. She is always pictured with one hand open and giving to others, not hoarding her good fortune!
Ganesh was said to have begun penning the epic Mahabharatha for Veda Vyasa on this auspicious day. For those who have dreamed of writing a book, this would be an excellent day to begin a new literary work! Chanting a mantra to Ganesha, Lakshmi and Vishnu can also be done on this day to enhance the energy of this fortunate time!
Mercury is also in Aries on May 7, flanking the powerfully exalted Sun. Expansive and abundant Jupiter is opposite the Moon in Taurus, and is casting his auspicious gaze to the Moon. Saturn and Ketu is in the mix too, influencing Sun in Aries from fiery Sagittarius, so some practicality and spirituality is being encouraged from Saturn and Ketu to the Sun. Even though Jupiter is fueling the mind's desires for expansion through its aspect to the Moon. Best to find a balance between Sautrn, Ketu and Jupiter to the Sun and Moon/mind and soul!
