In this edition: New Moon Insights & Rising Sign Forecasts
🔮 New Moon Insights: April’s New Moon in Bharani nakshatra comes with a plot twist! The Moon is exchanging signs with Mars (parivartana yoga). Meanwhile, Mars, finally direct, but still very uncomfortable in Cancer adds emotional intensity to the mix.
🌟 Rising Sign Forecasts: Discover how this fierce and potentially emotionally-charged New Moon may influence your rising sign. Expect themes of cleansing, courage, and karmic completion.
A message from Pamela:
April’s New Moon is the perfect time for a fierce cosmic reset! With eclipse season now behind us and Saturn trying to get settled into sidereal Pisces (but still engaged in a planetary war with Venus!), we’re entering a new relationship with Saturn in Pisces that won’t repeat for nearly three decades.
Additionally, Mars is currently retracing its steps through Cancer, revisiting territory it recently crossed (twice) toward the end of 2024. This gives us a chance to re-evaluate emotional responses, repair missteps, and move forward with more awareness through early June.
And just in case the emotional pressure wasn’t intense enough… this New Moon also forms the apex of a T-square with Mars opposite Pluto. I don’t typically bring outer planets into the conversation unless they’re playing a significant role in a lunation—and this one absolutely does. Pluto’s involvement signals the surfacing of buried tensions, both personal and collective. Power struggles, emotional volatility, and karmic release points may arise. But with Bharani at the helm, what burns away now is meant to make room for something far more truthful.

Lunar Lowdown: The New Moon Parivartana Portal

New Moon Snapshot: Your Cosmic Coordinates
Date & Time: April 27, 2025 (12:31 PM PT)
Sign & Degree: 13°34’ Sidereal Aries
Nakshatra: Bharani
Nakshatra Deity: Yama (God of Dharma and Death)
Ruling Planet: Venus
Planetary Aspects: Parivartana Yoga between Moon (Aries) & Mars (Cancer/Pushya)
This New Moon this packs a fiery punch. New Moon energy (first tithi) is always connected to the fire element, but this is a double dose! New Moon in fiery Aries and Bharani nakshatra, symbolized by the womb but presided over by Yama, emits the raw creative spark of Aries that meets the reckoning of the God of Dharma and death. The Moon here asks us to birth something new, but only after we’ve faced a meaningful ending.
Parivartana Power: Moon & Mars
The New Moon signature is unmistakable: the Parivartana Yoga between the Moon in Aries and Mars in Cancer forms a dramatic backdrop for emotional intensity, decisive action, and karmic looping. This isn’t a clean break. It’s a new Moon portal that can swing both ways, between the discordant fire and the water elements.
Mars is debilitated in Cancer, which can show up as vulnerability, frustration, and a potential for passive aggressive behavior. Although in Pushya nakshatra, presided over by Brihaspati, there’s also wisdom and nourishment here—if we can temper reactivity!
The Moon, meanwhile, is trying to surge forward in Aries—but the tether to Mars’ current emotional state in Cancer is a powerful pull. The result? A complex dance between impulse and introspection, between what we want to act on and what we must emotionally digest.
This exchange charges the New Moon inflection point with fiery courage—but also emotional depth. It’s the kind of planetary energy that doesn’t just want to move for the sake of moving… it needs to mean something!
This is not a subtle new Moon. It is not quiet. This is a new Moon portal of transformative activation.
Parivartana Portal: Bharani & Pushya—The Purge and the Path

Celestial Alchemy: Bharani's Purifying Moon Meets Pushya's Creative Mars
Before reading your rising sign forecast, it’s helpful to understand the two nakshatras at the heart of this New Moon.
The lunation in Aries/Bharani and its parivartana yoga with Mars in Cancer/Pushya creates a potent planetary and energetic exchange. Each nakshatra holds its own distinct shakti—a unique spiritual power—and its symbol offers deeper insight into the larger purpose of the New Moon–Mars exchange.
New Moon in Bharani Nakshatra (Apabharani Shakti)
This New Moon is all about cleansing, releasing, and rebirthing. Bharani nakshatra carries the shakti of Apabharani—the power to “carry away” impurities. Presided over by Yama, the god of death and dharma, and symbolized by the yoni, the sacred womb, Bharani holds space for both finality and fertility. This duality makes it a powerful threshold. Endings feed new beginnings.
Under this New Moon influence, we are invited to release outdated desires, toxic entanglements, and stagnant identities. Bharani doesn’t just let go—it makes room. And the space it creates is fertile and charged with possibilities!
Mars in Pushya (Brahmavarchava Shakti)
At the same time, Mars is once again retracing its steps (or maybe I should say slogging through) in watery Cancer and Pushya nakshatra. Pushya, presided over by Brihaspati, is the star of nourishment and spiritual expansion. Pushya grants the shakti of Brahmavarchava—the power to harness creative and spiritual energy. Yet Mars is debilitated (neecha) in Cancer, which can set the stage for emotional volatility, inner friction, and the potential for misdirected action.
When misaligned, this combination of Mars in Pushya may surface as frustration, impulsiveness, or passive-aggressive tendencies. Pushya’s devotional and nurturing essence can redirect that energy—but only if Mars is consciously guided. With effort, this placement becomes a force for sacred action—fueling sadhana, artistic devotion, and healing work with deeper emotional integrity.
Combined Energies of the Nakshatras
When the Moon and Mars form a parivartana yoga between Aries and Cancer through Bharani and Pushya, their energies intertwine. Fire meets water, action meets emotion, and purification meets purpose. This creates a profound opportunity for spiritual transformation, particularly in the areas of life governed by the houses that Aries and Cancer occupy in your birth chart. (Your rising sign guide is below!)
Revisiting the Mars - Pluto Opposition and T-Square Tension

This New Moon doesn’t stand alone—it sits at the apex of a powerful T-square, formed by a very close Mars–Pluto opposition. If you’ve been following my writing, you’ll recognize this dynamic: Mars and Pluto opposed each other twice already—in early November 2024 and again as Mars was retrograde January 2025. The November event landed directly opposite the New Moon in Libra, which I explored in detail here. That moment wasn’t just significant—it was a setup. This lunation continues the karmic thread.
In a T-square, one planet becomes the “release point” for the tension between two opposing forces. In this case, that release valve is the New Moon in Bharani nakshatra—a nakshatra already tied to purging, pressure, and the fierce shakti of Apabharani. The pressure is real. Mars stirs emotional reactivity in Cancer and the urge to defend or act. Pluto intensifies control dynamics, manipulation, or breakdowns in power. The Moon, caught in the middle, must choose to burn through what’s false rather than react from fear.
As I wrote in the November piece:
“The New Moon’s energy of fresh starts and intentions stands between Mars’s emotional impulsivity and Pluto’s demand for control. Like a driver at that three-way intersection, you may feel the tension as you’re forced to choose. Will you follow Mars’s path of emotional expression and personal assertion, or take Pluto’s route of intense transformation and power plays? There’s no neutral option here—the squares demand action!”
If the themes rising now feel eerily familiar, you’re not imagining it. This is the next chapter of a much larger karmic story. This is not a preview. It’s the third and final event in a rare and volatile face off between a very unhappy Mars in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn. A potential culmination of themes that began in late 2024. What was sparked last fall now seeks resolution.
New Moon Transformation Through Fire and Flow

Let Agni burn away the past, and Soma nourish what’s next
This is an especially powerful window for spiritual cleansing rituals, using the dual forces of Agni and Soma—to dissolve what no longer serves, and nourish what is ready to emerge. Consider beginning a new spiritual practice or dedicating time to creative projects with sacred significance.
Let the womb of Bharani and the cosmic milk of Pushya nourish your transformation.
This is a time to:
Release patterns, behaviors, or relationships that no longer serve your highest good
Channel energy and courage (Mars) into spiritual practices and creative pursuits
Transform and purify intentions and actions
Create space for new insights and deeper emotional growth
Journal Prompts
What am I being asked to release—even if it’s painful—to make space for what’s next?
Where is my courage hiding beneath my emotions or grief?
What truth have I been avoiding that could actually liberate me?
How can I turn emotional tension into creative fuel?

♈ ARIES (Meṣa): Reclaim Your Inner and Outer Authority
There is powerful call to step into a new version of yourself during this New Moon—one shaped by truth, not impulse. But you can’t fully embody this evolution without turning inward. Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, your chart ruler, this lunation ties your outer identity with your innermost emotional foundation. What unresolved emotions or inherited patterns are still shaping how you move through the world? What must be released at the root so you can lead from a place of clarity—not reactivity?
Mars, your chart ruler, is slogging through watery Cancer, stirring up emotional residue around home, family, safety, and security. This parivartana yoga invites you to purge outdated self-concepts born from old emotional imprints—and to ground your power in a more authentic emotional truth. This is a full-body reset: act from the heart, not the wound.
♉ TAURUS (Vṛṣabha): Say the Thing You’ve Been Holding In
The quiet corners of your inner world—dreams, endings, and the emotional residue you rarely show, or may not even be aware of yet is stirred by this New Moon. Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, this lunation activates a sacred thread between your subconscious and your voice.
There’s something that wants to be spoken—or at the very least, written. Something buried.
Something brave. Mars urges you to find the courage to say what you’ve been holding back. Whether it’s through journaling, breathwork, or honest conversation, this moment is about releasing what’s been festering in silence. Repressed emotions don’t just vanish—they transmute when brought into light. This is your moment to release and rebuild with intention, not perfection. Your inner world is calling. Answer back with truth.
♊ GEMINI (Mithuna): Clear the Community Karma, Reclaim Your Voice
This New Moon activates a turning point in how you relate to others—especially within friendships, communities, and online spaces. But it’s not just about connection; it’s about whether those connections still reflect your values.
Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, this lunation links your social world with your inner sense of worth. Are you giving your energy away out of habit or staying silent to keep the peace? Mars gives you the courage to speak clearly, set boundaries, and express what truly matters. This isn’t about conflict—it’s about clarity. Let your voice become the filter. You’re not just clearing space—you’re reclaiming your place.
♋ CANCER (Karkaṭa): Act with Emotional Integrity
Visibility and leadership take center stage now, inviting you to step forward—but only if it’s from a place of inner truth. With your chart ruler, the Moon, illuminating your public path and Mars stirring up raw emotions, this parivartana yoga creates a powerful exchange between how you lead and how you feel.
You might be confronting anger, vulnerability, or an old wound around recognition. Instead of suppressing it, let it inform a more honest way of showing up. This isn’t just a professional reset—it’s a call to embody emotional integrity as a strength. When you lead from inner alignment, your presence speaks louder than words.
♌ LEO (Siṃha): Release Illusions, Reignite Your Spiritual Path
A belief, teacher, or personal philosophy may no longer reflect who you’re becoming. This New Moon casts light on your inner dharmic compass, asking you to surrender outdated ideals so your subconscious connection to deeper truth can rise.
With the Moon illuminating your higher purpose and Mars activating the hidden layers of your psyche, this parivartana yoga creates an inner dialogue between wisdom and surrender. Dreams may be vivid on or near the New Moon. Threads of discontent may stir—but it’s all pointing to a sacred recalibration. Release borrowed truths. Insight is ready to be born from within.
♍ VIRGO (Kanyā): Transform the Exchange, Heal the Entanglement
This New Moon invites you to examine the emotional and energetic bonds you’ve built—especially those involving shared resources in committed business or personal relationships. Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, a deeper transformation is unfolding between your private commitments and your participation in broader communities, both online and in real life.
Are you giving too much of your time, energy, or income to relationships or groups that no longer feel reciprocal? Mars urges you to set thoughtful, emotionally intelligent boundaries. This isn’t about pulling away—it’s about showing up with discernment. Heal what can be healed. Then rebuild your support systems with intention and care.
♎ LIBRA (Tulā): Redefine Relationship, Reclaim Authority
Your key personal and professional relationships are up for a recalibration during this New Moon. Through its exchange with Mars, there’s tension—and opportunity—between partnership and ambition. Between how you show up for others and how you assert and present yourself in and to the world.
Who or what has held power over your choices? Where have you over-accommodated in a romantic or business relationship in the name of harmony? That’s Libra’s superpower, after all—but even diplomacy and harmony needs boundaries. Bharani nakshatra burns through false commitments, helping you see what’s worth tending—and what needs to be released. Reclaim your agency. Renegotiate the terms.
♏ SCORPIO (Vṛścika): Reset the Rhythm, Align with Purpose
Your health, habits, and the way you manage your personal energy are up for new beginnings during this New Moon phase. But the call runs deeper than routine.
Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, your chart ruler, this fiery new beginning links your everyday choices with your higher beliefs and long-term direction. Are your actions aligned with your principles? Stress, overwork, or ungrounded habits may need to burn away so clarity can return. Let this be a sacred recalibration—a time to rebuild your rhythm in service of something meaningful, while reconnecting with your spiritual path.
♐ SAGITTARIUS (Dhanus): Let Joy Be the Teacher
This New Moon brings renewal to areas of life tied to joy, creativity, romance, and your connection with children. But with Mars in the 8th forming a parivartana with the Moon, it may also stir emotional discomfort, disruption, or financial pressure—particularly in close partnerships.
Something that once brought you joy may now feel charged, uncertain, or in need of surrender. This isn’t a gentle invitation—it’s a push to let go of control and allow transformation to unfold. Whether through your creative expression or your relationship with children, something old must be released to make room for a truer, more sovereign form of joy. Trust the process, even if it doesn’t arrive in the way you expected.
♑ CAPRICORN (Makara): Burn Old Bonds
The foundations of your life—home, mother, land, and emotional security—are in focus for this New Moon. But it doesn’t arrive quietly. Mars in exchange with the Moon can activate friction in your closest partnerships, potentially surfacing conflict, unmet expectations, or power struggles.
These outer tensions mirror inner unrest. What emotional patterns or inherited dynamics need to be burned away so that true inner peace can be built? This is your chance to reclaim home—not just as a place, but as a feeling. It begins with honesty. It ends with liberation.
♒ AQUARIUS (Kumbha): Say What Needs to Be Said
Your inner voice and everyday mindset is activated during this New Moon—but it doesn’t stop there. Through its exchange with Mars, this lunation ties courage and communication with discipline, bringing pressure to confront both misunderstandings with others and your own inner impulses. Where have reactive habits, avoidance, or self-doubt crept in? What stories do you keep telling yourself that no longer serve your growth?
This is a time for courageous clarity—both in how you speak and how you show up in your daily life. Small changes now can have powerful ripple effects. Speak with intention. Act with integrity. And cut the noise—inside and out.
♓ PISCES (Mīna): Rethink Resources, Redefine Self-Worth
You are being invited to reexamine what you value. But this isn’t just about finances and savings. It is also about your personal energy and your self-worth. Through the Moon’s exchange with Mars, this lunation links your material world with desire, creative risks, and what brings you joy.
Are you investing your time, energy, or resources in ways that truly reflect your values? Or are old patterns of urgency, indulgence, or self-doubt pulling you off course? This is your moment to make empowered choices—rooted in clarity, not craving. Honor what’s truly valuable. Begin again from there.
