April 29-30, 2025 marks Akshaya Tritiya, a special once a year auspicious day known as the “Day of Golden Success.”

This is one of the most powerful days of the year to start a new venture, invest, make a major purchase, or simply set an intention for anything that you want to grow steadily over time.

What is Akshaya Tritiya?

Akshaya means “never diminishing” or “that which cannot be destroyed.”

Tritiya refers to the third lunar day (Tithi) of the waxing Moon.

Akshaya Tritiya occurs each year when both the Sun and the Moon are exalted at the same time:

  • The Sun is in its exaltation sign of Aries.

  • The Moon moves through its exaltation sign of Taurus.

This beautiful double-exaltation creates a rare window where actions taken are said to have enduring, multiplying effects.

The Tritiya Tithi for Akshaya Tritiya in 2025 begins at 5:01 a.m. PT on April 29 and ends at 1:42 a.m. PT on April 30. For most practical purposes, April 29 during after sunrise is the best time to set intentions or begin new ventures.

Why Does Akshaya Tritiya Matter?

From a Vedic perspective, the Sun and the Moon are not just planets — they are the very sources of light and consciousness. When they are both at their strongest, material and spiritual worlds are in rare alignment.

This is a time when:

  • Actions are magnified.

  • Intentions are blessed.

  • Seeds—both literal and symbolic—can flourish for years to come.

You don’t need a complicated ritual to benefit. A simple act, done with sincerity and focus, can be enough to set powerful energies in motion.

The Special Blessings of Akshaya Tritiya 2025

This year’s Akshaya Tritiya brings a unique and especially powerful planetary placement of the Sun and Moon.

But this year there is a special addition!

  • Jupiter is also in sidereal Taurus, joining the exalted Moon.

  • The Moon-Jupiter combination forms a powerful Gaja Kesari Yoga. A very auspicious yoga that brings wisdom, strength, and material prosperity. Especially when it is placed in an angle in the birth chart or muhurtha chart (electional chart).

Gaja Kesari Yoga during Akshaya Tritiya only occurs about twice every twelve years, when Jupiter happens to be in Taurus at the same time. This alignment adds even greater support to an already potent day for setting intentions that can grow and endure.

Combined with the energy of the third lunar day (Tritiya Tithi) — traditionally associated with growth and expansion — this is truly a remarkable window.

One nuance to be aware of:

  • The dispositor of the exalted Sun (Mars) is weak in Cancer.

  • However, this is offset by the exalted Moon (ruler of Cancer) and a Venus–Jupiter exchange, creating strong layers of support and grace for the day’s energies.

Overall, this Akshaya Tritiya offers a rare and very supportive environment for seeding new beginnings, investing in your future, and taking steps toward lasting success.

How to Work with These Energies

If you’ve been waiting for a “right time” to begin something meaningful, this is it.

Some ideas for working with Akshaya Tritiya:

  • Launch a new project or business idea.

  • Begin an investment or savings plan.

  • Purchase something of lasting value (if you’ve been planning it thoughtfully).

  • Make a charitable donation to start a chain of abundance.

  • Traditionally, purchasing gold on Akshaya Tritiya is considered highly auspicious as it symbolizes enduring prosperity – though in today's economic climate, any mindful investment or token purchase that aligns with your personal financial situation can carry the same symbolic meaning and intention

Set clear intentions for something you want to grow steadily, and plant seeds, metaphorically and literally! Even a small action matters. What’s important is that you align your action with your highest aspirations.

The owl is often pictured with Goddess Lakshmi. This symbol is a reminder of her ability to bring wealth and abundance even in times of darkness and uncertainty. The owl can also symbolize the wisdom required to responsibly manage wealth and the importance of sharing good fortune to avoid misfortune.

A Note on Timing

While Akshaya Tritiya spans a wide time window, the most powerful period for setting intentions will be during the day on April 29, particularly after the Moon has entered Rohini Nakshatra (which occurs shortly after 6:17AM PT) and after sunrise for your location.

Rohini is the Moon's own nakshatara, and has the power to make things grow and to create. As fixed nakshatra it has amplifying potential for a solid foundation for whatever you begin.

If you’re reading this, you’re already being called to participate. You don’t have to do it perfectly.

You just have to begin. On this sacred day of Akshaya Tritiya, remember that every journey toward abundance begins with a single, auspicious step.

Wishing you golden success and blessings that endure,
