Rahu and Ketu Change Change Zodiac ♈️ Signs ♎️ : What's Ahead for the Next 18 Months

Rahu and Ketu change signs on average every eighteen months.

Their movement is significant because whichever signs the nodes of the Moon are transiting through, the eclipse patterns follow!

And where the eclipses occur, potential for change follows. Beyond the four eclipses the lunar nodes also can create change when they come into contact with other planets or transit through nakshatras that are active in your birth chart through the Vimshottari Dasha system. I have indicated the dates and when specific nakshatras will be active below.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius rising will feel the energies of Rahu more than the earth, air and water signs for the next 18 months. There may be significant influences to relationships for Aries, Aquarius and Gemini during this time, too.

More on influences by rising sign in part two of this article, coming late March.

This article has four sections:

Rahu and Ketu in Astronomy

Rahu and Ketu are chaya grahas or shadow planets.

They do not have physical bodies like Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Rahu and Ketu represent astronomical points that intersect between the Sun's apparent orbital path around the earth, the ecliptic, and the moon's orbital path around the earth. See example below.

The Significance and Meanings of Rahu and Ketu in Vedic Astrology

Rahu and Ketu are perceived differently in Vedic astrology than they are in western astrology. They are embodied beings that were once one entity instead of two.

There are many stories about Rahu and Ketu and the great churning of the ocean to extract the amrita, or nectar of immortality. You can find many of these stories available online if you are interested.

An Excerpt About Rahu and Ketu from my Book, Vedic Astrology for Beginners:

Rahu and Ketu are always opposite one another in the horoscope and by transit. Serpents in astrology are depicted as wise, and these two are no exception to the rule as they are considered to have dhi, or great wisdom.

Rahu is extremely intelligent and very hungry for material objects. It is very difficult for him to feel fulfilled.

Rahu does have a mouth and no stomach, after all! Rahu represents unfulfilled desire from a previous lifetime and is said by some to be the reason for our birth in this lifetime.

Together Rahu and Ketu create what is called the karmic axis in the birth chart.

Rahu is a very revolutionary planet, and when it is placed with a strong Venus in a supportive house, it can give tremendous artistic capabilities.

Ketu, on the other hand, can be very spiritually oriented and intuitive; remember, he doesn’t have a head to be mentally inclined, or a mouth to create desires. The placement of Ketu in the birth chart is said to be where we were most comfortable in the previous lifetime.
